MARLBOROUGH, CT (WFSB) - One person was injured after an oil truck rolled over on Route 66 in Marlborough on Friday.

Emergency crews were called the the crash around 8:34 a.m., officials say.

Dispatchers confirmed to Channel 3 that the rollover happened in the area of 88 Hebron Rd. (Route 66) near the intersection of Johnson Road.

The road was shut down while local fire departments, DEPP, DOT, and Eversource worked to clean up the crash and subsequent oil spill.

The driver told officials that the truck has about 2,600 gallons of home heating oil on board.

The tank was actively leaking from the fill lids, but crews were able to mitigate the spill with absorbing pads.

The Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department was on scene for 6 hours while crews worked to clean up the spill and tanker.

“This was a large scale incident requiring special resources,” says the Marlborough Fire Department.

The spill did not impact the nearby wooded area, officials say.
