Three-vehicle crash in New Haven turns deadly
NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) - One person died following a three-vehicle crash in New Haven on Wednesday night.
New Haven police identified the victim as 42-year-old Jazy White of New Haven.
The crash took place at around 7:30 p.m. on Washington Avenue and Ella T Grasso Boulevard.
“The collision involved three older-styled, gray-colored Honda Accords,” New Haven police said in a news release. “The preliminary investigation indicates that it was a T-bone-style collision, with the third vehicle being struck after the initial impact.”
Police said five people were transported to a hospital, including White. White died soon after arriving there.
“One other individual sustained, serious albeit non-life-threatening injuries, and all vehicles sustained significant damage as a result of the crash,” police said.
The department’s Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to collect evidence and put together witness statements.
Investigators continued the investigation on Thursday with a search for video surveillance footage that may have captured what happened before and at the point of impact.
