Police seek suspect in deadly Waterbury shooting
WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) - Police are looking for a suspect involved in the deadly shooting of a 26-year-old man in Waterbury Thursday night.
Police responded to 234 Circular Ave. around 7:20 p.m. for reports of a gunshot wound victim.
According to police, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired it at the victim. Neither the suspect nor the victim lived at the Circular Ave. home but were there for a “common gathering”, police said.
Officers found 26-year-old Denroy Robinson from Waterbury suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Robinson was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police haven’t identified the suspect, but say they are working on strong leads.
“We’re just looking to confirm some thing sand take our next steps to work towards a warrant,” said public information officer Lt. Bessette.
They said they believe the incident was isolated between two people who knew each other, and there is no threat to the public.
This is Waterbury’s sixth homicide in 2023.
Channel 3 spoke with the man who lived at the home on Circular Drive. The man believes the suspect knew his daughter too.
He said he didn’t see the shooting but heard an argument leading up to it.
“It was very scary. I’ve never seen anything like that before,” said resident Clive Weise.
Neighbors reported that they heard as many as four shots and saw a man run and jump over a fence through someone’s backyard.
